Support LWVKY

The LWV of Kentucky appreciates the great amount of time and energy spent by members and non-members alike in support of League and its programs.  In addition to those invaluable gifts, we also need money to fuel our activities and maintain our presence in Frankfort.  There are a number of ways you can give to the League.

Show you support with a gift of cash or checks.  We are especially delighted to receive gifts in honor of, or as a memorial to, special people in our supporters lives. Checks made out to the LWV of Kentucky Education Fund are tax deductible and will be used to educate the public. Checks made out to LWV of Kentucky are not tax deductible and will be used to advocate for issues supported by the League. Mail checks to: LWV of Kentucky, 115 South Ewing Avenue, Louisville, KY 40206.

Consider gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other properties that have increased in value.  Qualified assets held for at least one day over a year yield double tax benefits.  Such gifts are deductible at current value and you reap the added benefit of avoiding capital gains taxes that would be due on the sale.

If any of your investments have decreased in value, selling them and donating the money will lessen the impact of such losses because the donation may be reported as a charitable deduction.

Include the LWVKY in your will – with a gift of cash or investments.  Ensure that things you care about are supported and always remembered.  Request information that you can give to your lawyer.

Consider purchasing a life insurance policy with the LWVKY as beneficiary.  The premiums may be tax deductible and for a few hundred dollars a year, you can give a gift of thousands of dollars.

Donations to the League can be of two types:

  • Donations to the Education Fund are tax deductible and are used to investigate issues, educate citizens, and/or encourage voting.
  • Donations to the General Fund are NOT tax deductible.  These funds are used for general expenses and advocacy before governmental bodies.
  • To continue our work, both types of donations are needed.

For more information about any of these options, please contact the League of Women Voters of Kentucky at (502)875-6481 or
