House Bill 70 Passes the House

February 14, 2010

HB 70 (the former felons’ voting rights bill) has passed the House with a large majority and has been sent to the Senate for consideration.  Now is the time to inform your KY Senator that you support automatic restoration of voting rights to those who have paid their debt to society.  We need non-violent former felons to feel that they have the opportunity to participate fully as citizens again.  The most basic way to participate in our democracy is to vote.  Please call your Senator on the legislative message line at 1-800-372-7181 and tell him/her that you support HB 70. Friendly people answer this toll-free number during business hours and into the evenings on weeknights.  If you are not sure who your KY Senator is, they will look it up for you.  Thank you for supporting this legislation.
