In 1920, suffragette Carrie Chapman Catt founded the League of Women Voters to help women fulfill their new responsibilities as voters. Today, the men and women of the LWV carry on that legacy. We are a nonpartisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. In the Bluegrass State, the League of Women Voters of Kentucky is proud to carry on that legacy.

Provisional Balloting and “Affidavit of Voter”
June 28, 2009Provisional voting was created under HAVA (Help America Vote Act) and is limited to federal elections ONLY. There have been no changes to Kentucky’s regulations since 2006 regarding provisional ballots. Hence provisional ballots are exclusively for and ONLY FOR FEDERAL elections.
Every citizen of our Commonwealth should be protected in the right to vote and the LWV of KY believes the public needs to know about “AFFIDAVIT OF VOTER” and that they have the right to vote in any election – even if they have to fight to get to cast their vote on election day!
